Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions...
- How do I order? You can either reach me through my Etsy Shop, or through my email at info@redlightstudio.net
- How long does it take to get a set of your toppers? I have a 3-4 month waiting list for my toppers. I sometimes have sets that are ready to ship, but not very often. Please check with me for availability.
- Why does it take so long to get a set of toppers? I create each and every topper. I hand sculpt them (no molds are used). They are then dried for several days, sanded and have 3 base coats of paint applied. I then do the detail drawing and painting and finally, 2 finish coats are applied. This is a long and time consuming process.
- Do you ship out of the country? Yes! I ship all over the world. I ship 1st class mail and also offer Global Express (1-3 day) and Express International (3-5 day) shipping.
- How long will my toppers last? These toppers will not shatter or break if dropped. They will dent if they hit a hard surface though, so please do handle with care. If handled carefully, they will last a lifetime.
- Can the toppers be cleaned? Yes, they can be wiped with a damp cloth to clean them. Do not submerge them in water, however. They are made of a clay comprised of dried paper and ash. Though they have a finish coat on them, they should not have prolonged exposure to moisture. There is an extra, thick coat on the bottom of the birds to help protect them from the frosting or fondant on your cake. They can sit in frosting for many hours with no problems at all.
- Do you sell your work anywhere else? N0, I sell exclusively through Etsy and through this blog. I DO NOT sell anywhere else. My work has been seen on many bogus sites, you can only purchase the real thing here.
- How do I get the birds to sit in the nest? If you 'dig' or pull apart the moss a little, to make small divots or holes in it, the birds will be supported and sit up straight.
- Can the nests be trimmed? Yes, VERY carefully. The small nests may 'unravel' if you trim too much or cut against the way the grass is wrapped. Just be careful and it should be fine.
- How do I 'fluff' the brides veil? With your finger firmly on top of the veil (or flower), gently apply a little pressure as you use your other hand to run your fingers under the veil to fluff it up.
